A SHOCKING NEWS UPDATE FROM THE UK — There is a shortage of tea! One of the most popular brands of tea has anounced that there is an issue with supply and the stocks in supermarkets may be low over the coming weeks. The panic-buying hasn’t started yet, but who knows what will happen!

Of course, the tea shortage isn’t actually a huge problem. But tea is such a common item in British households, it would be strange to be without it. What food or drink item could cause the same kind of panic in your country? Why is tea so popular around the world? What could people have instead?

Another story is of a teacher and student who had problems with an AI cheating accusation. The software says it’s written by AI. The student says they did not use anything to cheat. Who is telling the truth? What can be done in these kinds of situations? Who should the teacher believe?

Lastly is a longer video about the future of sherpas and the climbs of Mount Everest. As the attempts to summit Everest become more and more common, the number of sherpas is not increasing to meet the demand. This highly skilled role is not so simple to learn or train in, and isn’t a reliable career for many people in the region. Add in the danger of the climb and it is easy to see why this position is slowly disappearing.

Here are some interesting stories that I have found this week. With different topics, I am sure you will find something that is new and challenging for you. Why not use this as a chance to learn some new language?

Try to note some new language that you see or hear in the articles or video and bring it to the class.
