Hits in the headlines #63

An edited photo that is quickly becoming the biggest conspiracy topic in the UK. Is there something to hide? What has gotten so many people interested? Why does anyone actually care about it?

Our second article looks at the growing nature of addiction to entertainment and social media apps. Technology addiction is something that we have discussed in classes in recent months, as well as it being one of the big discussion topics of the English news cycle. Every week there are new headlines about TikTok, Instagram, and others that are ruining people’s lives. It could all just be an overreaction, but it is still important to consider what can be done about it now, and just who is responsible for this.

The video this week is titled “What’s the point of digital fashion?”, and I am sure that many of you are thinking: What is digital fashion?! The trend seemed to appear in the news during the crypto craze of 2021, but it has surprisingly stayed off-radar in recent times. While it might seem like a crazy idea from a sci-fi movie, it might become more relevant than you think. Could this be a solution to the problems of fast-fashion?

Here are some interesting stories that I have found this week. With different topics, I am sure you will find something that is new and challenging for you. Why not use this as a chance to learn some new language?

Try to note some new language that you see or hear in the articles or video and bring it to the class.
